Famine Memorial, Dublin Docklands. These statues commemorate the Great Famine of the mid 19th century. The Great Irish Famine lasted from 1845 to 1849. More than one million men, women and children died and a further one and a half million were forced to emigrate. It's also known as the Irish Potato Famine.
